  1. As someone who works with employees at the lower end of the organization, I have long thought that organizations needed to take more responsibility for developing their production people. While it’s fine to expect universities and community colleges to churn out employees who are ‘work-ready,’ it’s impossible for them to custom design students to fit the job requirements for specific positions currently available in your organization.

    I applaud the move to providing workplace learning that meets workers where they are.

    Informal learning, such as job shadowing or the so-called ‘buddy system’ are popular, but less than optimal methods of job skills training. On the Job Training needs to include some level of formality, to ensure consistency, repeat-ability, and accurate skill and knowledge evaluation.
