Learning In Practice Award Winners Announced at
Chief Learning Officer Symposium
Thomas Evans named 2014 CLO of the Year
Carlsbad, California, Oct. 5, 2014 —The winners of the 2014 Learning in Practice Awards were announced today by Chief Learning Officer magazine during a special awards dinner preceding the Fall 2014 Chief Learning Officer Symposium. Established more than a decade ago by Chief Learning Officer magazine to recognize transformational and visionary leaders in enterprise education, the coveted awards honor industry professionals who have demonstrated excellence in the design and delivery of employee development programs.
During the awards ceremony, gold, silver and bronze Learning in Practice Awards were presented in two categories. Practitioner awards went to chief learning officers and qualified senior learning executives for their leadership in developing and executing enterprise education initiatives. Provider awards were given to qualified service providers, vendors and consultants for their work on behalf of a client organization.
In addition, each year one outstanding learning executive is singled out to receive the prestigious CLO of the Year honor — the industry's equivalent of a lifetime achievement award. For 2014, the designation was awarded to Thomas Evans, a partner and chief learning officer at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Selected by a blue-ribbon panel of his peers — the 10 previous CLO of the Year winners — Evans was singled out for his commitment to integrating workforce development into PwC's strategy and his sophisticated approach to measuring the real impact of learning.
Diana Thomas, vice president of U.S. training, learning and development at McDonald's USA, was selected as the first recipient of the award in recognition of her career-long dedication to the growth of people through skill and capability development and for her selfless dedication to the ongoing advancement of the learning and development industry.
