  1. Learning-on-the-go practices and applications are likely to undergo similar successes and growing pains as those experienced by long distance education (LDE). Originally (and some practices still persist) LDE was simply as an add-on approach to traditional education, where text book-based learning and lecturing was offered online. Thus, the benefit of technology was based on quantitative values of wider reach (more students, more flexible time, wider geographic access, more information, etc). There was no pedagogical or epistemological shift in knowledge exchange. With advent of mobile technologies, educators and mobile platform providers need to go beyond quantitative values of reach afforded by mobile technologies.
