  1. Your first point is the main reason that Leadership (as a business concept) has failed. My feedback from the managers I work with is an over-riding confusion with “just what exactly are we talking about?” Here’s the classic confusion:

    A person in a leadership position with terrific leadership skills is called a leader.
    A person in a leadership position with lousy leadership skills is called a leader.
    A person not in a leadership position with terrific leadership skills is called a trouble-maker by those people in leadership positions with lousy leadership skills.
