• Treat this as an investment, not a perk. Map out new performance expectations for sponsored employees, and give them the opportunity to show what they’ve learned.
• Companies may pay for the tuition, but employees in an academic program have devoted countless hours to earn the degree. Reward them with promotions and raises when their hard work leads to enhanced performance and great results.
• Be sensitive to how hard sponsored employees are working to balance their careers, studies and other priorities.
• Ask employees in MBA and EMBA programs to share their knowledge with colleagues in organized ways such as lunch-and-learns.
• Showcase employees who reach milestones in their academic journeys. Highlighting their success will signal to other employees that continual learning and development is valued and will stimulate increased demand for sponsorship.
