Chicago, Aug. 7, 2013 — Hundreds of chief learning officers, corporate executives and talent development experts from around the world will convene Sept. 30-Oct. 2 at the Rancho Las Palmas Resort and Spa in Rancho Mirage, Calif., for Chief Learning Officer magazine’s Fall 2013 CLO Symposium.
The focus of the three-day meeting will be bridging the gap between broad visions for employee development and the actual implementation of learning and development initiatives that deliver direct impact on business results.
Workforce development is a powerful catalyst for organizations looking to compete more effectively, improve results and grow, said Norm Kamikow, president and editor in chief of Human Capital Media Group, which publishes Chief Learning Officer magazine. Yet even though it magnifies performance, L&D is often overlooked in business strategy, presenting chief learning officers with the challenge to take learning vision and put it into action.

The Fall 2013 CLO Symposium will help them acquire the knowledge, insights, techniques and solutions required to unleash learning’s full strategic potential, Kamikow said.
In keeping with the meeting’s theme, “Vision to Action: Learning’s Strategic Force,” the magazine’s editors have built a program that provides inspiring thought leadership and powerful, practical ideas for maximizing the impact of workforce development on organizational performance. The executive-level agenda features keynote addresses, panel discussions, practitioner-led best practice sessions, more than 30 workshops and plentiful networking opportunities. Attendees of the Fall 2013 Symposium can also earn HR Certification Institute continuing education credits, as well as points toward recertifying as Certified Performance Technologists.
A new addition to the program this year is a special dinner on Monday, Sept. 30, honoring the winners of the 2013 CLO Learning In Practice Awards — more than 60 L&D practitioners and vendors who have demonstrated excellence in the formation and delivery of employee development programs. The dinner will feature a keynote address from 2012 CLO of the Year Pat Crull, group vice president and chief learning officer at Time Warner Cable, followed by after-dinner entertainment featuring Ken Block and Drew Copeland of award-winning pop group Sister Hazel.
