CASE STUDIES
Case studies for CLO provide our readers with best practices for strategically approaching learning and development issues. These case studies explore challenges organizations face, and how they approached and solved these issues. Case studies should also include metrics associated with the implementation.
These features must explore an organization’s overall approach to L&D or a specific issue within the field. Case study submissions that include product information, vendor quotes or any marketing/advertising information associated with a vendor will NOT be considered for publication in Chief Learning Officer magazine.
Case studies should be 1,500 words and must be submitted in a Word document. The article must include a title, byline* and bio for the author.
IN PRACTICE SIDEBARS
In Practice sidebars are short case studies that run along with a longer feature in the magazine. These sidebars provide best practice implementations that relate to the larger feature article. Like CLO’s case studies, these sidebars should explore challenges organizations face, and how they approached and solved these issues. In Practice sidebars should also include metrics associated with the implementation.
These features must explore an organization’s overall approach to the specific issue discussed in the main feature. In Practice sidebar submissions that include product information, vendor quotes or any marketing/advertising information associated with a vendor will NOT be considered for publication in Chief Learning Officer magazine.
In Practice sidebars should be 600 words and must be submitted in a Word document. The article must include a title, byline* and bio for the author.
GUEST EDITORIALS
Guest editorials are opinion-based articles that run within our columnist section. These editorials explore and provide commentary on a theme or issue within learning and development.
Guest editorial submissions that include product information, vendor quotes or any marketing/advertising information associated with a vendor will NOT be considered for publication in Chief Learning Officer magazine. In addition, guest editorials must not argue for a general L&D approach or style of solution if the author of the article works for a company that provides such a solution.
Guest editorials should be 750 words and must be submitted in a Word document. The article must include a title, byline* and bio for the author.
BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE FEATURES
Business Intelligence features take a research-based look at an issue or theme within learning and development. These articles provide research and analysis that learning and development leaders can use to make informed learning decisions.
Business Intelligence feature submissions that include product information, vendor quotes or any marketing/advertising information associated with a vendor will NOT be considered for publication in Chief Learning Officer magazine. In addition, business intelligence features must not argue for a general L&D approach or style of solution if the author of the article works for a company that provides such a solution.
Business intelligence features should be 1,500 words and must be submitted in a Word document. The article must include a title, byline* and bio for the author. In addition, charts or graphs are also highly desirable to run with business intelligence features.
WEB-ONLY FEATURES
Web-only features run online only at www.CLOmedia.com, with a mention of the article in the table of contents within the print edition of the magazine. These features can be on any topic and can run any length, however, we suggest keeping these feature under 2,000 words. Due to the limited publication space within the print version of Chief Learning Officer magazine, most articles submitted to CLO will run as Web-only features.
Web-only feature submissions that include product information, vendor quotes or any marketing/advertising information associated with a vendor will NOT be considered for publication at www.CLOmedia.com. In addition, Web-only features must not argue for a general L&D approach or style of solution if the author of the article works for a company that provides such a solution.
Web-only features should be less than 2,000 words and must be submitted in a Word document. The article must include a title, byline* and bio for the author.
*AUTHOR AGREEMENTS
Once an article has been selected to run in Chief Learning Officer magazine and/or www.CLOmedia.com, the author will be asked to sign an author’s agreement. Among other legalities, this contract verifies that the article selected for publication has not been published previously, and that it will not be published again in the future. In addition, the contract gives Chief Learning Officer exclusive rights and editorial control over the article. If your article has been previously published, if you plan to publish it in the future, or if you are not willing to sign the article’s rights over to Chief Learning Officer magazine, we will NOT be able to publish your article.
